Coloring a MarkerMade shirt is easy and fun. Here is the whole project in five simple steps — no special skills needed.

Five Easy Steps

    Pick Your Markers

    Use permanent, air-dry fabric markers made for coloring fabric. Pick your favorite colors and get ready to make it yours.

    Fabric markers give you better control and cleaner color than ordinary markers.

    Prep Your Shirt

    Lay your shirt flat and place a protective barrier inside the shirt so the color doesn’t bleed through to the back.

    A smooth piece of cardboard or similar protective insert works great.

    Color Your Design

    Color one section at a time using light, even strokes. Follow the bold black outlines—or put your own spin on it.

    For smoother color blends, add the next color while the first is still slightly wet and blend where the colors meet.

    Let It Dry

    Lay your finished shirt flat and allow the marker ink to air-dry completely.

    Once it’s completely dry, it’s ready for the next step—no pre-wash required.

    Wear It Your Way

    That’s it. Once your design is dry, put it on and show off what you created.

    There’s no need to wash your shirt before wearing it.

Care & Washing

  • Wash inside out on a gentle, cold cycle.
  • Wash with like colors and skip the bleach.
  • Tumble dry low or hang to dry.
  • Colors stay bright with gentle washing over time.
